At Page One, we know that the first page of any new chapter can be daunting. That’s why we dedicate the first day to getting to know your new surroundings. Our welcoming staff know that every child takes a different approach to settling in, and they are there to help you take your first day at your own pace. We want you to leave Page One feeling happy, secure and excited for next day!
Nutrition is crucial for your growing child’s development. We encourage parents to pack a nutritious and balanced lunch for their children; this is supplemented by regular healthy snacks provided by our staff. We treat mealtimes as opportunities for the children to develop their social skills as well as their taste for healthy options.
The Irish Government’s ECCE scheme provides free pre-school education for children for up to two years before they start primary school. In Page One, this is provided as three hours a day over the school year. This is an invaluable introduction for children to formal learning experiences. Our ECCE programme is run through the Montessori method, which is a holistic approach that encourages individual learning, social interaction and play, and hands-on learning. Children who complete the ECCE scheme with Page One will be well prepared for the transition to primary school, both in terms of social skills and education.
The ECCE scheme year begins in September and mirrors the school year. The programme is available to all children who have turned 2 years and 8 months of age before 1st September. They can continue until they transfer to primary school as long they don’t turn 5 years and 6 months on or before 30th June of the programme year. For more information on the ECCE scheme, see the Citizens Information website.
